The Sand Dune

Business of Visibility

Why being good at what you do is no longer enough.

The expertise gap is closing. The visibility gap is widening. Here is what established business owners need to understand about staying found in an era when everyone is online and almost no one is consistent.

By Audrey Rose · Salt, Sand & Script Co.

The Dream Life

Why the most effective marketing is not about what you sell - it is about what your client's life looks like after they buy.

The Word on Publishing

The case for writing your book before you feel ready, and what happens to your authority and your business when you do.

Unbound Perspectives

It is not the time. It is the decision fatigue. A new framework for thinking about content creation that changes what feels hard about it.

ABOUT THE Sand DUNE

The magazine for business owners building something that lasts.

The Sand Dune is the editorial publication of Salt, Sand & Script Co. — a free quarterly magazine for established business owners who want more than tactics. Who want the thinking behind the tactics. Who want to read about business the way business actually works: with complexity, with humanity, and with the honest acknowledgement that building something meaningful is both harder and more rewarding than most business content admits.

No fluff. No listicles. No content created to fill a slot. Every article in The Sand Dune is written to be worth reading — to change how you think about something, or confirm something you already knew but needed to hear said clearly.

I

The Business of Visibility. How established business owners build sustainable marketing presence — the strategy, the systems, and the honest truth about what it actually takes.

II

The Dream Life. The life that good marketing is supposed to produce — the freedom, the flexibility, the business that works for you rather than the other way around. We write about this honestly.

III

The Word on Publishing. For business owners who have a book inside them — the case for writing it, the process of publishing it, and the authority it creates when it exists in the world.

IV

Unbound Perspectives. Education-adjacent content — the frameworks, the thinking models, and the perspective shifts that change how business owners approach their marketing and their craft.

V

Brand Spotlight. A featured profile of an established business owner doing something worth talking about — the business, the brand, and the story behind it.

FEATURED IN EVERY ISSUE

The Brand Spotlight.

Every issue of The Sand Dune features one established business owner in the Brand Spotlight — a dedicated profile exploring their business, their brand voice, and the strategy behind what they have built.

It is not an advertisement. It is editorial coverage — the same standard of writing that applies to every article in the magazine, applied to your business and your story.

  • A 600–800 word editorial profile of your business

  • Published in The Sand Dune and on the SS&S Co. blog

  • Shared to The Sand Dune subscriber list and SS&S Co. social channels

  • Evergreen content — your profile stays live after the issue publishes

  • One round of approval before publication — nothing goes live without your sign-off

FOR WRITERS

Submit a Guest Article.

The Sand Dune welcomes guest submissions from established business owners, marketers, strategists, and practitioners who have something genuinely worth saying. Not a pitch. Not a thinly veiled advertisement. An article.

  • 800-1,200 words on a topic relevant to our four sections

  • Original content not published elsewhere

  • A genuine perspective - not a list of tips

  • Written by or attributed to the business owner themselves

  • No backlinks or promotional content within the article body

QUESTIONS

About
The Sand Dune.

Anything else — email [email protected] with "The Sand Dune" in the subject line.

Is The Sand Dune really free?

Yes. The Dune is free to read and free to subscribe to. It always will be. The magazine is not a lead magnet or a sales funnel — it is a publication. The value is in the reading, not in what follows after it.

How often is The Sand Dune published?

Quarterly — four issues per year. Each issue contains four feature articles, a Brand Spotlight, and an Editor's Letter. Issues are published when they are ready, not to meet an arbitrary calendar deadline. Subscribers receive each issue by email on publication day.

Can I share articles from The Sand Dune?

Please do. All articles in The Dune are free to share in full, provided the author and publication are credited. We ask that you do not republish articles under your own name or without attribution — but sharing, forwarding, and linking is actively encouraged.

How do I submit a guest article?

Use the contact form at saltsandscriptco.com/the-dune under the "Guest Article" section, or email [email protected] with "Guest Article Submission" in the subject line. Include your article topic, a two-sentence pitch, and a brief bio. We respond to all submissions within 10 business days — with a yes, a no, or a request for more information.

How do I get featured in the Brand Spotlight?

Inquire through the contact form at saltsandscriptco.com/the-dune under "Brand Spotlight". Include a brief description of your business, how long you have been operating, and why you think your story is a good fit for The Dune. Spotlight features are editorial decisions — they are not sold, they are selected.

Will subscribing add me to a sales email list?

No. Subscribing to The Sand Dune adds you to The Sand Dune subscriber list only — you will receive new issues when they publish and nothing else. You will not be added to the SS&S Co. marketing list, enrolled in sequences, or contacted about services. If you want to hear about SS&S Co. services separately, there is an option to subscribe to that list as well — but it is separate and opt-in only.
